The future of automotive is developing more than we expected. But is Africa ready for such futuristic moves? We are so used to either diesel or petrol engines, are we going to be able to use electronically powered cars? They are a lot of benefits in hybrid cars , but will Africa have enough back up maintenance plan for such vehicles?

A lot of questions will surely be raised in the event that vehicle manufacturers launch hybrid cars in developing countries such as Zimbabwe.

So let me take you back to high school Physics and learn about  what is a Hybrid.

What is a Hybrid Car?

A hybrid vehicle uses two or more distinct types of power, such as internal combustion engine to drive an electric generator that powers an electric motor

How does a Hybrid car work?

Uses a combination of an internal combustion engine and a battery electric drive system to increase fuel economy and reduce emissions. … During heavy acceleration both the gasoline engine and the electric motor work together to increase power to the wheels.

The basic principle with hybrid vehicles is that the different power sources work better at different speeds and then switching from one to the other at the proper time during the speed transform yields a win-win in terms of energy-efficiency, as such that translates into greater fuel efficiency.
